NOTES
Every image here is original, made on land we steward, at events we hosted, or inside the organizations we serve, by photographers who were genuinely there. Almost all were captured by gifted visual artists Kat Jones and Sarah Creal. Engage them and they’ll make beautiful art for you too.
Our logo was designed by Noah Scalin, local artist of global renown, who did a masterful job evoking our philosophy and methodology in a visual that at once signals seriousness and wonder, weight and movement. The four bars might represent the four stages of the eco-cycle that anchors much of our curriculum: Birth, Growth, Maturity and Release. Witnessed and experienced as seasons and turnings of time, landscape, organism, ecosystem. The orb might be the sun’s rising and cresting and setting. Or the moon’s. Moving through sky over earth. The grainy strokes aren’t digital: they are the imperfections of the wood into which this logo was laser-carved by the joyful artists at Big Secret. Then painted and pressed by Noah to invite the living world to be present in a digital image. All of this, we hope, might cause you to feel as well as think, to connect with the perpetual motion we share: We are here today, just briefly, while moving always toward tomorrow.
No LLMs were used in the making of this site, the language herein, or the images that tell our story. This work is our work, the labor of hands and minds, the wisdom earned through years trying and failing and learning and traveling and eating and talking and giving and building and celebrating and mourning and hoping.
Always hoping.
